Winter dreaming...

Happy New Year! For many of us the holidays are a busy time… presents to buy, cookies to bake, events to attend, working out schedules to accommodate friends and family. For some, the holidays can be bittersweet, remembering friends and family who are no longer here to share in our traditions…. Either way, the holidays can be wild and wonderful…. and busy…

I love this time of the year when the parties are over, the decorations are lovingly packed away for another season and this becomes “my time”. It’s a quiet time, spent walking outdoors, feeling the snow crunch under my feet, and sensing everything is tucked away for a long nap….

But, there is a restlessness beginning to stir… As I walk, I start thinking about all the life under the surface of the earth working away, rejuvenating my garden soil, getting ready for next years plants. The seed catalogues and last years garden plans come out and I start dreaming about next years gardens. About the changes I want to make, the beds I want to add and the new varieties I want to start.

Are you feeling this too? Embrace this quiet time and dream away…. spring will be here before you know it….
