Day 9 - Favourite Tree

Have a look out your window. Do you have a favourite tree in your yard/neighbourhood/park? If none come to mind, go for a walk around your neighbourhood and find one that speaks to you.

It can be a little tough this time of year without the leaves, but if you don’t already know what type it is, see if you can identify it… are there any old leaves clinging to the branches that can help identify it? Ask a neighbor who might know what it is. Bark is also a good clue, as is tree shape.

Over the next couple of days, find out all you can about your tree. How fast does it grow, how big does it get etc. Take a picture of your tree and make a list of all the things you like about your tree… Shape, shade, birds, food and medicine it may offer, and animals it houses….? Write it all down.

In challenges to come, this will be “your tree”. Post your picture if you like ;)
